With the improvement of living standards, pigeons have become more than just communication tools. Many beautiful pigeons have become people's pets, and many pigeons are even trained for pigeon racing, but raising pigeons is not easy and requires some knowledge.

1. Food

In order to adapt to the characteristics of flying all the time, pigeons will keep eating. Unlike some birds, they are not fed regularly several times a day. So we need to have enough food all the time.

At the same time, there are many kinds of pigeon food: pellets, powder, green vegetables. Either way, make sure the food is fresh. The granules should not be mildewed, and the powder should not deteriorate after stirring. Keep the greens fresh and juicy without dehydration.

2. Ensure the safety

If there is more than one pigeon in the house and there are young pigeons, be careful not to trample on the young pigeons. Secondly, pay attention to the feeding situation of the young pigeons in time, because sometimes the mother pigeon may be incompetent, and the young pigeons cannot eat pigeon milk at all.

Cats and rats are the natural enemies of pigeons. Rats eat pigeons and their eggs. When cats enter the loft, they will disturb the hatching and normal activities of pigeons.

Therefore, the dovecote should be prevented from invading cats and mice, and the dovecote should be surrounded by barbed wire or bamboo strips. In places where there are many mice, the wire can be drawn around the loft at a height of 5 cm from the ground, and the electricity can be turned on at night to prevent the mice from sneaking at night.

3. Moisture

Remember to provide enough clean, cool drinking water for the pigeons. When it is hot, the evaporation of water can absorb part of the heat in the pigeon's body, so as to achieve the purpose of cooling, so you should always keep fresh and cool overnight water in the water tank.

In addition, you can increase the content of various vitamins and trace elements in the drinking water, which is beneficial to improve the immunity of the pigeons.

4. Living environment

Pigeons mainly rely on breathing to dissipate heat. Generally, the loft has high humidity, which is not good for young pigeons. Ventilation and cooling should be strengthened. Use ventilation and cooling facilities as much as possible, and humidify with wet pads to reduce the temperature of the house.

In addition, water can be sprinkled on the ground regularly, and the heat in the house can be absorbed by water evaporation to cool down and prevent the pigeons from heat stroke. In an open loft, the windows should be fully opened during the day, and the front windows should be fully opened at night when the wind is blowing, and the rear windows should be separated.

In addition, it is necessary to remove the debris in the front and rear of the loft to facilitate ventilation before and after, and at the same time prevent mosquitoes from biting the pigeons, ensure the comfort of the environment, and facilitate the pigeons to sleep.

5. Prevention of diseases

Common diseases of pigeons include intestinal parasitic diseases, intestinal diseases and respiratory diseases. For beginners, it is difficult to judge whether the pigeons have the above diseases or sub-health phenomenon.

Therefore, in line with the principle that prevention is better than cure, it is also necessary to give a comprehensive preventive treatment to breeding pigeons.

Before feeding, you can get some preventive medicines from the doctor, feed them with food, and then pay attention to whether there are obvious abnormalities in their bodies.

The most important thing in feeding pigeons is to pay attention to their diet. If they develop abnormal conditions, remember to consult a doctor in time.
