Just 30 minutes by boat from Šibenik lies the unspoiled island of Zlarin. Known locally as the "Golden Island," Zlarin retains its turn-of-the-twentieth-century charm and beauty: quaint orderly villages, crystal clear waters, and a mix of secluded rocky and sandy beaches that outline its coast.
As the island is really small, there are a small number of attractions. However, some places are definitely worth visiting:

Klepac – the highest point on the island (174 m above sea level) is ideal for trekking. During bright and sunny days, you can even see Mount Velebit and volcanic Jabuka island.
With a small population of residents, no cars, and next to no tourism, Zlarin welcomes those looking to run free and explore its family-friendly beaches backed by fig and cypress trees and dense forest. And as the island receives a significant amount of annual sun, your chances are pretty high of having that perfect beach day. In the wintertime, the island has a population of almost 300, but in the period between March and October, that number increases to 1500 people.
From Šibenik, you'll catch a ferry to the town of Zlarin, a cluster of houses at the center of a pointed bay, where you can visit the seasonal Coral Museum to discover the island's coral harvesting past. There is the odd coral souvenir shop in the alleyways behind the harbor if you'd like to do a little shopping, though more than likely, you're here for a day of sun and sea.
The island of Zlarin is most known for its culture of harvesting red corals and turning them into jewelry. In the same way, during summer months, you may witness a ceremony that is held for sailors who are going to the sea at night to find corals. It’s a beautiful traditional ceremony where locals are dressed in folk costumes, singing and dancing all night long.
Next, make your way to the western side of the bay, following any paths that will lead you to your private piece of the island. Alternatively, seek out something more "wild" as you venture further away from the town! Or, if you prefer something more active, there are plenty of opportunities for kayaking or paddleboarding.
When it comes to beaches, the island is full of sandy and pebble beaches with lots of natural shade and peaceful ambiance. It’s the main reason why one of the best islands in Croatia, Zlarin is a favorite vacation destination among families with children or couples. On the other hand, wild beaches with intact nature are perfect for those seeking solitude and tranquility. As there are no hotels on the island, private accommodation options are only available.
