Constant conquest seems to be the indelible wild nature of man's heart, which is shown in the conquest of nature.

Those who are a hundred times greater than a man of the mountains and canyons, from ancient times to the present are constantly conquered by man, whether it is the highest mountains or the most dangerous waterfalls are so.

Among these formidable challenges is Chogori Peak, internationally recognized as one of the most difficult mountains to conquer. Known as K2, this majestic mountain stands at 8,611 meters, second only to Mount Everest in height but surpassing it in climbing difficulty.

The first successful summit of K2 occurred in 1954, achieved by Italian explorers Lino Restelli and Achille Compagnoni. Since then, only a handful of brave individuals have reached the pinnacle.

Most successful attempts take place during the summer or autumn, as the harsh winter conditions pose insurmountable challenges. Winter on K2 is famous for treacherous weather, constant winds exceeding 8,000 meters, heavy snowfall, and bone-chilling temperatures that can plummet to -50°C.

The mountain is perpetually shrouded in fog, making the ascent increasingly perilous.

The inherent danger of K2 lies not only in the harsh climate but also in its formidable terrain. With its pyramid-like shape, the peak boasts rugged steepness, triggering frequent avalanches and icefalls.

Each side of the mountain presents complex and treacherous features.

The north side is marred by fragmented glaciers and crevices, and the vertical elevation from base to summit spans a staggering 4,700 meters, unmatched by any other 8,000-meter peak.

The west side is famous for rockfalls and avalanches, adding to the already formidable challenges. Indeed, the difficulty of K2 extends far beyond mere words.

Nevertheless, on January 16, 2021, history was made when a team of ten Nepalese climbers successfully scaled Chogori in winter, setting a groundbreaking record.

Amidst the 60 climbers from different countries attempting the feat, the Nepalese team joined forces and emerged triumphant.

This extraordinary winter ascent of Chogori serves as a testament to the power of teamwork and an unwavering positive spirit.

It pushes the boundaries of what humanity believed was possible, showcasing the triumph of the human spirit against the formidable forces of nature.
